Addressing childhood trauma and attachment wounds through an intensive in-person workshop.
The Empowerment Workshop: Break free from attachment wounds from childhood trauma
This is an in-person intensive workshop, that can be tailored for an individual or for small group (1 to 3 people) ranging from 2.5 to 3 days in length.
Part 1: Understanding Core Issues and Trauma (anything less than nurturing..the vastness of this umbrella may surprise you).
Part 2: Debriefing the timeline of your childhood and adolescence, connecting the dots between feelings and experiences from back then, with feelings and experiences in your present life.
Part 3: Experiential processing. Using a variety of modalities, we focus in on the most significant people, places, and things that impacted you deeply. We work out shame and give permission for feelings and words that may not have been available to you in the past. Our goal is to bring relief, resolution, and reduce carried emotions. The ultimate goal is empowerment over your life, moving into the future, without the restraints of the past.
Based in the pioneering work of Pia Mellody, and facilitated Ria Flanagan MA MFT, LISAC, CSAT, CMAT Certified PIT (Post Induction Therapist), trained by Pia, and having co-facilitated with Pia herself.
This workshop is offered individually or in small groups.
I also use somatic experiencing techniques (created by Dr. Peter Levine) throughout the workshop to keep clients grounded, incorporating experiential therapies and movement to help facilitate change in the nervous system.

Cindy has called the Valley of the Sun home since 1975. She earned her BA in Education in 1999 and served students with special needs and their families in the Deer Valley School District for many years. Her passion has always been in helping people to realize their strengths, to overcome challenges and prosper in life. Cindy has faced her own challenges in life, and knows first-hand the sense of isolation and the unique struggles faced by those afflicted by substance abuse (and co-occurring conditions)and their loved ones. Addiction tells us to suffer in silence and isolation and recovery begins when we reach for and find help and community. Cindy earned her Master of Science in Addiction Counseling from Grand Canyon University in 2019 and is a Licensed Associate Substance Abuse Counselor in good standing with the AZ Board of Behavioral Health Examiners. Her approach is based in Solution-Focused and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapies that promote optimism, cognitive restructuring, and positive motivation for change. “The world changed when I changed my perspective and I know that recovery from any challenge is possible. I am honored to share my experience, insight, and compassion with others on their journey to mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness.”
